Public Service
Olympic Mountain School was created as a public service organization. By working in the private sector to train private individuals, educators, and institutions in outdoors skills, more people will be better prepared for encounters with the natural world. Fueled by values learned from Boy Scouts and religious studies, Jason Bausher seeks a private sector form of the public sector National Park Service: front-line "protection" of wilderness while seeking the "pursuit of enjoyment" for the American people (as expressed in the 1964 Wilderness Act).
Our mission is fourfold: 1) to train educators, 2) to inform the public about regulations and Leave No Trace practices, 3) to develop academic research on social ecology, 4) to enjoy the gift of wilderness. If you or your organization know of a way for Olympic Mountain School to offer its time and resources, please email Jason Bausher at bausher@fordham.edu.
